We were hoping for a comment from Senator Ira Hansen (who originally announced SB 452 was dead) on what stalled and eventually killed the bill but couldn't wait any longer. If we hear why we will let you know!

After a brief work session after the Joint Judiciary Committee hearing, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed the bill out of committee and will now head to the full Senate Floor for debate and vote. The bill received several amendments from the committee which almost brought it back almost to its original wording with regards to verbal warnings and somewhat addressed a couple of the issues which opponents were starkly opposing it for.

In a rare occurrence, the ACLU, Las Vegas Police Protective Association, Police Managers and Supervisors Association, the Public Defenders Offices in Washoe and Clark Counties, the NRA, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the Nevada Firearms Coalition and a number of other groups and citizens from across the state all were in agreeance with the same thing: SB 452 is a bad bill!

Originally a part of AB 286 that was struck out before it went to House floor for vote has been re-introduced as a separate Senate bill (SB452) as an Emergency Measure by Senate Leader Nicole Cannizzaro with less than two weeks to go until the end of this Legislative session. Is your favorite (or least favorite) Nevada Business a Foe against Firearms Possession in/on their Premises? Or are the an Unequivocal Supporter of the 2nd Amendment and not only allows firearms in their business but Welcomes them?

After reading the new Amendments to the bill it is our understanding that Section 2 of the bill pretty much ONLY pertains to Casino's now but there is still a bit of gray area there. It also expands the coverage to the premises property line, which includes outdoor areas including parking lots.
